IGBAJO POLY HOLDS INTER SCHOOLS DEBATE COMPETITIONS GIVE PRIZES
As part of the efforts to support federal and state government initiatives to develop education at the grassroot level.The polytechnicIgbajo ,IgbajoOsun State , first community polytechnic in Nigeria recently organized inter schools Debate and Quiz competition for all the secondary school students in Boluwaduro Local Government of Osun state.
The event took place at YetundeOyewoleAuditorium Igbajo Polytechnic was attended by seven secondary schools within the local government area. The schools are Community Secondary School Oke Irun , Anglican Grammar School , Otan , Shinning Secondary School Igbajo, kiriji Memorial College , Bestway College Igbajo, Saint Thomas Secondary School Otan and Muslim High School Otan respectively.
Speaking at the event the Rector Dr. Mrs. Odejide represented by the Deputy Rector Engineer Oladeji charged the young visitors to remain focus and determined to the pursuit of their educational career which will make them assume their rightful position in the society. She however, frown at which the social media platform affecting the performance of the students in both secondary school and Higher institution of learning that students nowadays devote more time on social media than their studies which she believes has brought set back to the education system in Nigeria. She enjoined the participant students to shun any act that can affect their education negatively in achieving their dreams in life.
Meanwhile, all the participant students took the management, staff and students of the polytechnic a surprise during the debate competition, it was an excellent performance, the community secondary school Oke Irun won the first in the Debate competition and Muslim High school otan led the other schools at the Debate competition. The schools were also rewarded with gift items from the management of the polytechnic to encourage them to continue to improve and committed to their studies.
Speaking shortly after the event one of the students from community secondary schoolOke Irun, Ojo Marvelous appreciated the management of Igbajo Polytechnic for organizing such an educative programme and created enabling environment for them to display their skills and knowledge acquired in their various schools.She also appealed to the school to continue with the good gesture as she believes it will help the students to develop the right attitude in their education.
