    THE JOURNEY SO FAR

    The journey that was started about 14 years ago, was first muted by the then IDA President, Prince Adeoba Latilo in September 2003 and proposed to the Kabiyesi Owa Oba Olufemi Fasade Akeren IV for the establishment of the first Community Polytechnic in Nigeria i.e. IGBAJO POLYTECHNIC, IGBAJO.

    The technical committee was then setup to mid-wife the proposed Polytechnic headed by Prof. Layi Fagbenle. The Other Committee members were:

    • LERE LADITAN
    • ADEMOLA ADESUYI
    • BARRISTER IDOWU ADEOSUN
    • S.O. GBENJO
    • JIDE ABORISADE (Late) Secretary

    Initially the corporate Affairs Commission incorporated the institution as “DE Polytechnic NIGERIA LIMITED” as a private Limited Liability Company with share capital, Board of Directors, share holders, etc on the 5th July, 2004.

    The three registered Directors incorporated were, Owa of Igbajoland, Honorable Ademola Ogundeji and the Chairman Technical Committee Prof. Lahi Fagbenle.

    As the Technical Committee were working assiduously to get going for the take off of the institution so also Owa- IN – Council under our present Kabiyesi Oba Olufemi Fasade also set – up another Council of Elders in Igbajoland to give advice, guidance and total support for the polytechnic project.

    Members of the 10 man Committee were:

    1. Late Prof. (Chief) E.A. Tugbiyele - Chairman
    2. Chief O. Oyewole  - Member
    3. A.A. Adeogun - Member
    4. Late (Deacon Chief). I.Kola Ajayi - Member
    5. Late Prof. Olu Makinde - Member
    6. Late Chief I.O. Adegbite - Owa in Council
    7. Chief M. I. Aboaba  - Member
    8. Ademola Awomolo - Member
    9. Pa Moses Ogunleye - (Rep. of Ibadan Plank Dealer)
    10. Chief S.B. Ponle - Member

     

    There first and crucial meeting was held on Saturday 24th November, 2004 where far reaching decisions were taken.

    The colaborative efforts of some notable sons of Igbajo enabled us to get all the necessary required papers for registration with the NBTE Kaduna.

    THE Polytechnic started its remedial and certificate courses with 230 students at the then temporary site in 16th May 2005.
